Hi all,
worong NG i know, but I am trying a simple Caustics scene, sort of a crystal
ball.

however, uvpov takes 10mins to cook the photons, starts to render then dies,
in the meantime my swap file has grown to over 150MB (I have 64MB O Ram)

scene attached.

Rick

I'm sure Nathan will reply to you, but for now...

I'm not sure "autostop 0" makes sense.

You may wish to add "ignore_photons" to your objects.

I'm no expert on photons, though. :)

I too am no photon geek, yet!, but I have a note from one of Nathan's
replies that in most cases you want the autostop set to zero. It is
only when you have a situation where there are hidden holes, or surfaces
out of the line of site, that you need to start adding in an angle to
to the autostop. This is to make sure you are gathering enough photons
for all of the surfaces present on the object.

I just started a thread in the programming group with a list of my own
observations and problems with the patch. People reading this and working
with the patch might want to stop by that group and read my message.
Adding your own observations and problems to that thread will digest it
into one group so Nathan won't have to search every group on the server
when he get's back from his trip and will find it easier to respond to us
all. Plus it will be easier to read his responses without having to chase
 them all down.
