Right! I'll stop thinking and go for the pose ;)

Is this going in the right direction?

  Now he is stretching.

Just try to emulate the photo.

It is not easy you know ;)

How about the two standard cat poses? If they are nearer to what you want I can
modify them.

I suppose the second one is closer.

I'm just not understanding what is unclear about what is it that I
want. I just want the same pose as in that dog photo. If it looks
radically different, it's not what I'm looking for.

I've gone back a step to the one you said was stretching and tried to copy the
stance in the photo. Is that better?

I think that there are a couple of things that are in the way of enlightenment
:)
Mostly it is because we are working remotely and you can't point at the screen
and say move that. Secondly I think that you can imagine what the dog looks like
from the side but I only have a vague idea. I need to be able to visualise from
at least three elevations. Poser is quite exacting and I am no expert. I
generally only use it in a rough and ready manner.
You should think of your requirements the way you would if you were writing a
spec. e.g. Lower the chest, move the right paw back and lift the right shoulder.
Turn the head to the right keeping the line of the eyes parallel to the ground
etc.
I hope that this one is a bit nearer what you want.

Yes, this is much closer. Maybe if it looked just a bit more to its
left it would be even better. The tail could be higher (basically the
only difference from the dog photo).
