Just thought I would post the results of some recent tests, of the sphere_sweep
object and its (troublesome) cubic_spline type. If for no other reason than that
it's...strangely beautiful ;-)  My apologies to the POV-Ray developers if this
particular situation has already been addressed.

The 'discontinuities' (or 'slices' through the sphere_sweep) become visible
about halfway through. The only thing that changes during the animation is a
slight x-movement of the camera. It shows how the discontinuities develop,
close-up. (I used to think that these anomalies didn't change their 'infinitely
thin' behavior, the closer the camera approached. But they appear to be actual
disturbances of the sphere_sweep surface.)
