Hello,

I post an new animation of fluid.

It's the test scene that I'm currently using. I took the time to render it
with photons and radiosity in order to post it.

The video is MPEG1 encoded.

Any comments are wellcome.

very nice!

but the thing that looked most "odd" was the underside of the object (could
it be trapped air?) and the lighting on the the bottom of the tank that
does not change much. It looks like there is some kind of friction or step
that prevents the small ripples at the surface from leveling out.

God knows how you'd fix this, but... it looks too regular and not 
turbulent enough. (In particular, the caustics look wrong. Looks like 
they should ripple more.)

But other than that, a pretty nice simulation!

I think Orchid has a point, but also I was wowed by this animation. I'm
always looking forward to seeing the next installment, and they keep
getting better and better. I think this one took the realism to a new
level!

By the way? Are those actually air bubbles trapped under the wooden block?

What were the render stats for your simulation and render?

About the fix ripples at the water/air interface, it's a problem that happen
when the speed is low. I think it's a problem with the pressure computation
that is not precise enough (it's the pressure computation that should make
the ripples propagates and deseppear).

It is not bubbles at the bottom of the object. In fact, there is always a
gap between the water surface and the object (smaller than a grid size).
This gap is fluctuating from one iteration to an other. It results in these
"bubble effect". For this kind of object shape, one solution is to
increase the object size during the rendering in order to ensure the
contact between the object and the water. I will try that in the next
rendering.

The simulations tooks around 12 hours.

The rendering time was around 30 min per frame. Frame rate is 25 frames per
second. This post has 76 frames.

I use a P4 3.2 GHz with 1 Go of RAM.

I've been watching these as they come, and am always impressed. The one 
thing that stands out to me, now is the surface waves on the water don't 
seem to propogate (looking at the caustics caused by the water's 
surface, it seems like the waves just "sit" on the surface. Maybe its a 
problem w/ higher frequencies and grid size, I dunno.
