QuickTime = Blah

How about a traditional mpeg for those of us who like to be able to
uninstall the software we install?

Strange my NT4 box at work has an uninstall item for QT in the
start menu. It works too, now where's that installer gone.

How about doing a google search for alternative mpeg4 player,
or just try http://www.videolan.org/ which plays the file
just fine and is cross platform (I'm guessing you're on windows)
