Most of you have probably seen the Pluto images from the
New Horizons Flyby, in particular the full disk mosaic and the
lookback atmospheric haze image (if not, time to head over to
http://pluto.jhuapl.edu/News-Center/News-Article.php?page=20150724).
This is a fake fly-around rendered in POV-Ray, a single image
(not a global map) projected onto a sphere, and scattering media
for the hazy atmosphere. Enjoy!
And yes it is all a terrible hack (covering up problems at the
terminator and fudging relative brighnesses) but looks nice :)
