OK, so now it works like it's supposed to.

BTW... Is this the weekend? Or is it just that nobody's interested?

Yup, weekend is probably the #1 reason. Additionally, you're commenting on
the bug and fixing it already, so what's there to add? ;-)

Still, I think the simulations lack something. If you look now, just
stopping the beads will stop them from intersecting the knot, but the end
result doesn't look too convincing for a knot. So, what are you actually
trying to achieve? Or is this just for fun?

Ah well... I suppose I should give up on anyone being impressed that I
actually managed to make the thing work at all... I keep forgetting,
most of the other people round here can put a physics system together in
their sleep.

The fact that the strands get this close means either the stick tension
is too high, or the bead repel is too low.

Actually, I'm using inverse square repel - I believe KnotPlot uses a
higher power by default. This, they recon, makes the force more
"localised". Maybe I should try a similar change also...

The real reason I'm doing this is because of a small number of "issues"
with KnotPlot's own knot relaxation system. I saw it had issues, and
decided to write my own, completely from scratch.

Add to that POV-Ray's [obviously] [vastly] superior rendering
capabilities and you've got yourself a project! (Refractive knots, anyone?)

[Of course, what POV-Ray has in beauty, KnotPlot kinda makes up for in
speed... If you have 3D acceleration, that is.]

Most of all... I *cannot* find the command that turns on that wonderful
"radiant energy" vis mod that KnotPlot has... So I'm going to have to
implement it in POV-Ray instead!

Andrew.
