I saw a post here a few days ago of a hollowgraphic chess board. I thought
it might be nice to try and animate the board switching off, with the pieces
vapourising.

So heres my second sketch animation on the topic.

Using an object pattern based media, and increasing the turbulation (clock
going from 1 to 20, and turbulating with "clock*clock".

Currently using a Scattering media, but will be switching to an emmitting
media.

Also thinking of putting a burst of light in the center of the chess piece
as it begins to break up.

Any ideas - suggestions welcomed...

Two possibilities:

 - Decrease the media density as time goes on also, so that the piece fades
to nothing. (That is, use emission .1 * (1-clock) or something similar.)
 - Try scale <1,.05,1> before the turbulance and scale <1,20,1> after it, to
make the turbulence give a sort of vertical stretching effect.

Really cool!

How about absorbing media? Seems perfect for the job.

Yep. That would be real cool. If you happen to play Warcraft III, you
could get some ideas in the great spell effects they got in there.
Things like a light column from above, an explosion of light, lights
dancing around the object, etc...

Very good animation!

My suggestions:
Don't use jitter for animations.

I think that if you don't use jitter, the GIF will be smaller because the
frames would be more similar.
