I remember doing some experiments like that with sphere sweeps some time
ago...

would the horizontal bar of the 4 be better a fraction lower ?

I've been a draftsman and I agree, it would normally be
placed it lower to fatten it up, but I kept it in the middle so
the transition to the 3 would be easier. I should try it a little
lower and see if the transition is doable. Thanks!
