John, I'm quite interested in your ability to animate meshes but could you
provide a bit more of a backstory? What is NSSS and what software are you
using? Nice animation, very smooth.

The NSSS is the New Subdivision Surface Suite, which is a set of macros
which take a polygon mesh (triangles and quadrilaterals) and by a
refinement process makes smooth curving shapes.

The modeler is my own creation. I used it to model the object,
including the way the skeleton of the piece articulates. I exported
this model as an .INC file, #include-able from POVRay.

In POV-Ray I set the parameters which determine the angles between the
different parts of the skeleton, #invoke the .INC file, and then run the
NSSS though its paces. The parameters are adjusted over time, producing
the animation you see above.

When I get individual texturing of the faces, and uv-mapping, added
to the modeler it will do most of what I need done.

Regards,
John
