This is a short animation for the length of time that its taken to
finally see the light of day. 6 months ago I was looking for a real life
object to model, as I'd not done one. I then remembered this toy wooden
truck of my nephews, nice simple shapes...easy to model in pov...right :)
So I gave the truck a nice new home sat on my desk, where its lived
happly ever since. I made an image which looked kinda like the truck,
then started playing with Paint Shop Pro 7, stuck a few effects onto the
image and ended up with a line drawn effect. Posted the end result to a
PSP newsgroup and was told it looked interesting, but are you going to
shade it....hmmmm....Back to povray, lots of messing about with
no_shadow and PSP and taking one picture from another inversing and
other mumbo-jumbo.
Finally got a line-drawn effect with shadows on, then had this great
idea!! Wouldn't it look cool animated....NO!! I wasn't going through all
that stuff with PSP for every frame, cos you had to get everything right
or you had to start the frame again.
So the idea just sat around for the past 6 months, then I found Python
and the PIL module, read a few tutorials and what other people thought
of it. If it was so easy, then I should be able to do that idea, I
thought to myself, a few hours playing around with images and a 27 line
Python script came out that did all the post processing.
Now I find out PSP8 has Python built in...but I only have 7, oh well..
This has been a post of firsts, first real life model, first animation
and first Python script which did something useful.
Hope you like this animation :)
Thank you for your time.
