Hi,

Sim-POV is fun! Here's the result of my first experiments.

All the best,

That's the smoothest radiosity I've ever seen in an animation!

And the object falling is sooo cool. I like. =)

What else can sim-pov do?

Oh yes! Such fun! Now, what can I do next...?

Yes, good isn't it? Using a totally new radiosity solution on every frame (ie nothing
special
done here because it's an animation), and it's almost totally artifact free. I think I
was
very lucky.

Me too! Took a while to get it to fall as I wanted, but the real kudos goes to
Christoph for
his patch!

> What else can sim-pov do?

Hmmm.... let me think, and I'll see what I can come up with.

All the best,

It's very impressive!
Just 2 remarks (IMHO):
 - I can see some antialiasing jitter. Did you turn it off?
 - I think that the block bounces a little too much on the floor.

Next thing that you can do:
A huge metal cylinder that stands and falls. At the floor it hit's some
pillow-like things...

Apache

Looks very good. Must have thaken quite some time to render...

Some information about the simulation settings would be great.

No, i used +A0.3, that's all, not a high enough quality really.

I agree. I don't feel in control of the parameters yet, really.

Hmmm.. I don't think I know how to make a cylinder shape just yet... blocks are my
limit at
the moment. I shall have a think about it.

All the best,

Andy Cocker

Thank you. No, actually simulation and render times were very low.

> Some information about the simulation settings would be great.

I used step_count 1200 and a time_step (1/25)/1200, the 'block' was <12,12,2>, each
frame took
approx 30 seconds, including simulation and rendering. 265 frames in all IIRC.

All the best,

Andy Cocker

That is really cool. I bet it was a lot of fun creating it and seeing it
work.

Being a bit of a nOOb in the area of compiling source code and not managing
to find any info on Christophs home page could you tell me what I need to do
:)

Thx

Dave

Thanks... yes, it was.

A compiled command-line executable is available on Christoph's page, here:
http://www.tu-bs.de/~y0013390/simpov/

If you try and get things to work without properly reading the documentation (like I
did ;-)),
be aware that you have to run the scene files first with +kff1 (to initialise the
meshes), and
then with +kffn (n being whatever number of frames you wish to be your anims length).

If you have any other problems, just ask, as I probably had the same ones too.

All the best,

Andy Cocker
