Just to fill up some quiet bandwidth here.
This is something I have been thinking about trying for a while. It still
needs a lot of work but I'm not going to put much more time into it at the
moment.

are some aliasing artifacts. Have you noticed this?

Yes, it was just a quick render to see if it worked, no AA, mpeg1. So there
is lots of artifacts as I would expect.

Nice. Is this using a similar method to the one I said I was gonna use to do this a
while ago
(don't remember which post it was in) to move the grass by values returned from
sampling a
pigment?

Yes, the grass placement/orientation/etc. is also determined by
eval_pigment.
For the wind blowing, I just sample a bozo pattern and shift it up and
forward with the clock.
