Perhaps you overread what I wrote:
Cause you're using Linux, I CAN'T
suggest using TMPEGEnc, afaik
its only available for Windows...

Ah well. Just try to make MPEG-1,
you'll notice by the comments if it
worked... ;-)

I think I have now found a way that works... unfortunately the mpegs are up 
to a factor 2 larger and still have worse quality :(

I have canceled my first try to produce mpeg-1 as probably only the program 
that did the encoding could actually read it. Here is the second try. (The 
smaller animation only)

MPlayer under Linux can play DiVX just fine...
