I had to go get Divx, but this looks pretty good.

I might have been the original poster, I was asking about a heat shimmer a
while ago.  In my case, I was looking for hot air 'exhaust' from a cooling
tower.  I was experimenting with the 'liquid spray' plugin, but I got side
tracked working on a plug in to manage tank tracks (pun intended <G>).

It sounds like my idea was similar to yours, I was going to do some spheres
that would move 'up' out of the vents and scale up larger.

How did you do the normal map, and did you use large spheres around the
camera or smaller ones at the edges of the scene?
