Windows Media Player seems to be under the impression that it doesn't
have an AVI codec. I find this somewhat difficult to believe...
ps: I haven't looked at your explanation in p.b.i yet, but I'm guessing
random motion of particles until they hit something, then stick in
place. Now to see if I'm right...

You probably need to get the DivX Codec from www.divx.com .
BTW, you can add my new sig to your collection if you want. Have you put them up

What I mean is that I suspect that computer DID have the AVi codec, but
windoze just couldn't accept that. Too user-friendly...
