Actually the background spheres and the fire thingy in the centre are
stable. Maybe it's hard to tell though.
Maybe when I get back to work on monday i'll render and post a picture of
the overall scene.

    Yes, because they leave the frame. You need to be able to keep your eye
on something and see that it "turns over" as you pass under the strip. It
doesn't need stable things, it needs a stable frame of reference.
