This summer I'm working at the Physics Dept. of UiO (see sig), and I am
currently animating a numerical solution to the time dependent SE for a
wave-packet scattered at a box-like potential. The linked animation shows
it, and comments are more than welcome. It's a bit unfinished; I'm
considering making it enterely 2D-ish and adding axes, labels and so forth.
There seems to be some trouble with the MPG, though. Jumping and
hand-colored-ish effects all the way. Any suggestions here? I used CMPEG
with this command:
cmpeg -v1 ipb.ctl test.lst test.mpg
with test.lst containging the 457 filenames of the frames output from Povray
in PPM-format. Note that cmpeg were executed in xdosemu under Linux, due to
lack of a MPEG-assembler on that platform. (Anyone can point me to one,
btw?)
URL to animation: (about 2.2 MB)

regards,
Simen Kvaal.

I can't get info on the resolution here but might it be that Cmpeg likes a
res. in multiples of 16 and this isn't? I have never seen this affect
before though, only faulty borders.

All the images are 512x320, and that's stated as the maximum resolution in
CMPEG.DOC.

try this mpeg encoder (it works very nice in my linux):
ftp://ftp.mpegtv.com/pub/mpeg/mssg/mpeg2vidcodec_v12.tar.gz

it comes from the MPEG group site:
