Yep, arcing, as in arc welding I guess. Not that it makes much sense to
call it that but that's what I've heard said of electricity jumping between
two points.
Thought maybe I was speaking wrong but I looked it up and found a quick
definition at:

Thanks Ken, I should have at least made that as a guess. Thought up that
name for one of my nephews (Jacob, not Ladder) and I had seen one of those
on TV not long ago.

The Rage Pro's a good 2D chipset (terrible at 3D). It shouldn't have any
problems with the MPEG codec (in fact, it's supported by hardware, IIRC).
Try snatching the latest drivers of www.ati.com and see if they work.

Err, a voltaic arc?
Arc \Arc\ ([aum]rk), v. i. [imp. & p. p. Arcked ([aum]rkt); p. pr. & vb. n.
Arcking.] (Elec.) To form a voltaic arc, as an electrical current in a
broken or disconnected circuit.
This is just a reach, but I think thats what they are called. I seem to
remember another name for the effect, though, but it escapes me..

If you like it you could have a look at the Electricity Include File which
you can find on my website.
