Is it a sphere sweep with just a few points, that are altered based on a

Haha, very funny. I ment I would need more information on what the video
was before I could give meaningful feedback. i.e. what was used, why the
animation should be interesting and or useful, and perhapse techniques
which could be used by myself or others in our own scenes.
