Just playing around with a tesselated sphere and the warp turbulence
Render time: less than 3 hour on my old 180MHz Pentium for the 120 frames with AA 
             and 3 light sources.

Is the base sphere tesselated every frame or only in the first?

Looks like you used Jerome Grimbert's tesselation patch ... how did you get
hold of that??
