I start rendering quite demanding image (this one:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Glasses_800_edit.png). I stop the render with
ctrl-c, and then rerun povray (.pov-state file is in the directory where source
file is), but povray seem to ignore .pov-state and restarts rendering from the
begining.

Am I doing something wrong, or is there something I could do to help?

You have to specify the command-line parameter +C in order to continue
an interrupted render. (In the windows version there's a textfield at the
top of the window for entering command-line parameters.)

I did. I'm using linux version, compiled my own from the source. I put '+C' at
the end of command line options i used to start the initial render, but povray
just starts from the begining.
