Is there any possibility to implement the "Sarah and Tariq Lorenzo Ibarra's SSS"
in POV-Ray beta?

http://news.povray.org/web.4735eab7f1b25b6bb30176120%40news.povray.org

Mine is only a question without any pretense, of course.

Regards

I'll have a look at it. Can't say much more than that at this point.

regards,

Infinite thanks.

I wonder whether it might be possible to get a SSS effect with radiosity code...

.... after all, it seems like it keeps leaking through walls anyway :)

No, honestly: I believe there must be a possibility to combine both things.

You are a volcano of ideas, as this:

You don't stop! :-)

I couldn't, even if I wanted to :)

(Sometimes I wish I could - it's not too helpful for my daytime job to have all
those half-finished experiments, unresolved problems and untested ideas about
radiosity occupying an estimated 90% of my brain's computing power ;) And then
there's a whole lot of other projects waiting to be picked up again...
sometimes I wish for a QuadCortex...)

It's possible with photon mapping, but there are more efficient models for it.

What? I thought you had one already.... :-)

I've ported this code to 3.7. There's a LOT more work to do; the original
code is just a proof-of-concept and had almost everything hard-coded, so I
need to introduce support for setting the parameters that are currently set
in code via the SDL. Also, I have no doubt I probably broke something in
the translation, I haven't looked for bugs or anything yet, so what you see
attached should not be taken as an indication of final appearance.

Was rather disappointed until I noticed the second image ;)
I didn't really expect you to invest time to include grand new
functionality in 3.7 but that's certainly very nice to have.

Call it "easy to use, no parameter tweaking".
