Hi I tried to render a scene with the latest beta 12a
and I saw a huge memory usage, possibly a leak.
When I render it with the nomral povray 3.6 it uses 25 megs
same scene in the beta took 500 megs.
It uses Photons, maybe it is related to the not finished implementation.
should I mail someone of the testing team the scene file?

Regards,

Thor

Related to memory usage.

When I run biscuit.pov, the reported 'peak memory used' increases be 4080
bytes each time.

During any one session with POV-Ray the reported 'peak memory used' only
lists the largest amount reached, and does not reset back to smaller
amounts.
Run:
woodbox.pov, reported 'peak memory used' 655289 bytes
biscuit.pov, reported 'peak memory used' 1204637 bytes
woodbox.pov, reported 'peak memory used' 1204637 bytes

Win98se AMD Athlon 2200+ 256mb
3.7.0.beta.12a.icl8.win32

A workaround for this has been put in, thanks for the report.

While on the subject of memory I would like to point out that the memory
tracking in POV 3.7 isn't as accurate as in the past as it does not track
memory allocated with the C++ 'new' operator, which is now used extensively
inside POV. We will be doing a major revision of the memory tracking before
final release.
