No matter what I do, with both beta2 and beta3 (I had this problem until a
little while before beta3 came out,) when I start up POV-Ray it says "This
pre-release version of POV-Ray for Windows has expired."  I've tried it in
98se, XP and XP 64-bit on 3 different systems.  I also tried uninstalling
and reinstalling but no luck.  Any ideas?

  Wait for the next release?

  If you *really* must use the beta version instead of 3.5 (which the beta
shouldn't have removed from your system by default), you could turn your
system clock back, but that's just ugly...

And it will mess up other applications running on computer and can cause 
serious problmes.

But POV checks time only at start-up.

Btw, I agree now that its a *good* idea that beta expire.
But for some special-cases like (I want to compare beta2 with beta3) etc, 
how about an hidden option to start expired beta (i.e. command line option,  
windows-register, some disk .ini file, etc)?

If you are not prepared for serious problems then you are not prepared for
being betatester because betatesting means looking for as many as possible
problems in every aspect of using tested software.

How about zipping all releases with password that will not be reviled to 
anyone? Thats a problem ;)

The problem is I already have waited for the next release -- beta3.  My
computer clock is set right (on all 3 systems.)  It is April, 2004, is it
not?  What is the expiration date of beta3?  I'm going to go messing around
the registry.  This is weird.

Wow.  April 15 is kind of rediculous when beta3 only showed up a few days
ago.

don't know what planet you were on the last two weeks; beta 3 was released
on April 1.
