I've installed RC2 and every thing works right with the insert menu.
'grayed out' : ... this happend to me with the version 3.6.2,
when I added all my personal additions to insert menu,
before Chris expanded the number of available insert menu ID's
to about 9000.
Now, with a total of about 8000 files, I don't find this problem
anymore.
Do you use only the original Insert Menu of version RC2
or did you add other items there?

I haven't added anything. RC1 installed fine. With the new release I
uninstalled RC1 and installed RC2. I selected the Windows prefered
location. On the first run I noticed the grayed out areas. I had the sam
e
results on XP SP2 and Win7.
I decided to take a look at the files via "Edit this menu" and noticed
that all the folders that had grayed out areas were completely empty. So
 I
uninstalle RC2, deleted the whole Pov-Ray folder under My Documents,
re-installed RC2 and now everything is fine :)
