Are you sure you pointed out the right message? There's talk about evaluate
and max_gradient. My scene doesn't even have isosurfaces.

It still crashes in beta 10 for me.

Good, then the problem is elsewhere.  max_intersections below 1 will be
adjusted to 1 automatically, so that cannot be the problem anymore.

Scene in my original post crashes with max_intersection 1 as I see.
It not depends on intersected object - I mean when I replace sphere (max two
possible intersections) with plane (max one possible intersection) it still
crashes for max_intersection 1, so yes - problem is elsewhere.
