When I use radiosity, sometimes POV-Ray crashes with an access violation.
I haven't found any precise way of causing the crash, sorry...

  Athlon 1.2GHz, 256MB, Win98, POV-Ray 3.5b6.

It seems to me that these random crashes happen either more often or
exclusively (I haven't tested enough to say for sure) when outputting to png.
If I use no file output, or output to bmp, it doesn't seem to crash (or it
doesn't crash so often, at least).

Same here, on WinNT, Celeron 333. A few of the times it was when stopping a
render that had been minimised to the system tray and restoring it.
