POV-Ray 3.7.0 Unofficial for Mac can be downloaded from:
http://megapov.inetart.net/povrayunofficial_mac/
Only Intel-based computers with system 10.6.8 and later (included 10.9)
are supported.
This is a universal binary with 32 and 64 bit versions.

I downloaded the zip file, but I'm not sure what to do with all those files.  Is
there a dmg in there someplace?

The folder contains everything you need.
The application: PovRAy 3.7 Unofficial
The standard include folder, example scenes,…
You can also use the help menu after you launched the application to get
you started.
