usual but important stuff:
---------------------------------

Please note that this is an unofficial compile so that Macintosh users
can participate in beta testing.
The UI is the same as MacMegaPOV but the renderer is POV-Ray 3.7 without
any modification.
The UI does not reflect in any way how the final official version for
Macintosh is going to be.

You can report core bugs to the POV-Ray-Team but send all UI related
bugs to yvo(DOT)s(AT)gmx.net

Before sending bug reports, please read about this POV-Ray 3.7 release
and known bugs at:
http://www.povray.org/beta/
and make sure the bug isn't reported at:
http://news.povray.org/povray.beta-test/

Please take a few moments to read the "Readme xx" files included in the
package before using the application!

Keep in mind that this is beta software!

If someone reported this sooner, it would have been fixed ages ago ;-)
(hint)
I don't always test on Tiger.

Don't hesitate, if there is a problem please report it asap!

I downloaded the OSX Binary directly from "http://www.povray.org/download/" and
this version didn't work for my 2007 MacBook Pro. There is a note on the
downloads page about some macs not being able to run povray because of some
issue caused by Apple. It also says: "We cannot do anything about it, so sending
us bug reports will not solve your problem. Sorry!". This is why I got stopped
in my tracks and did not even think about asking for help. I thought they get
swamped with messages asking about that and are tired to write the same answer
again and again. I didn't want to bother anyone. Luckily I have access to some
WinXP machines and was able to carry on with my projects there. But now I'm back
on my mac!! Thanks again!

My mistake, I thought you were talking about the previous unofficial 3.7
beta 37, not PovRay 3.6. There was a bug in the previous 3.7 version
also.

Anyway, have fun rendering images again!

Is there a compiled MegaPOV 3.7 beta 37a for Windows XP? I love using my mac,
but I also utilize some quad core PCs for my rendering jobs. I need the
"camera_view pigment" on windows with multi-core capability desperately. I want
to render multiple views into a single large image to cut down on parsing time
for animations with large SDL script data, but don't want to go back to using
only one core.

Thanks!

Andi

In short: No - neither for Windows nor for anything else.

The unofficial 3.7 betas for Mac "borrowed" the GUI from MacMegaPOV, but
AFAIK that's about everything the two projects have in common.

Hmm, I didn't start playing yet with the camera_view pigment on my mac. I guess
I would have noticed soon, that it is only the Megapov GUI. So far it was just
an idea. Too bad. I guess I'll have to wait with that until Megapov supports
multi core, or until Povray includes the Megapov functionality. I guess I'll get
along without it for now. Thanks anyway! I'm still happy that I can render on my
mac again!
