Is there any point to the blank toolbar that's circled in the attached
image? Even though there's nothing on it, I can resize it and move it around
the toolbar area.

What do you suggest they should put in there?

Actually, I am suggesting that it be removed, since it (apparently) has no
purpose.

How do you remove a blank space?

I don't want to sound harsh but removing a blank toolbar is different from
removing blank space. Try moving it around and you'll notice it's a toolbar,
not just "air"!

you have to define a toolbar, even one with nothing on, can those lines
just be commented out :)

Exactly. For instance, I can move it over here by dragging it.

I think, it's not that bad to have this around. It does not hurt in it's
default position, but if you want to move one of the other toolbars around
(esp. align them to the right) or want to add some space between to toolbars
it is necessary to have one spare t'bar. So there might be a purpose :-)

Hmm, I don't know why you'd want to align a toolbar to the right unless
there's also a toolbar to the left of it, in which case you could make
*that* toolbar bigger instead. But I think the blank toolbar does hurt a
little bit: it takes up a little bit of space, especially if the POV-Ray
window is small (at 640x480 the blank toolbar hides the "Tray" button), and
perhaps more importantly, it takes up memory and system resources.

Well, I'm thinking of doing it with the Icons-bar, since the bigger icons in
this version makes it nearly impossible for me to reach the render/stop
button while the render-window is open in my preferred render size. (I know,
I know, it does not have to be always above the main window, but I'm used to
it.) So by moving the render window to the left, the main window to the
right and that toolbar to the right, too, I can reach it again.
But as I see that Pov looses the Info were the t'bars have been when you
close it, I probably won't do it that way and in smaller resolution, I
agree, every single pixel is precious.
