I posted an animation of my dielectric experiment on Vimeo yesterday and while I
was there
noticed this other POV-Ray video there that was posted a just a couple of weeks
ago: "Good vs Evil - An Epic Povray Movie."
It's a bit cartoony, and the poor texture mapping drove me crazy, but it is
definitely worth watching:
http://www.vimeo.com/19270731
Here's the description from Vimeo:
"Created by us, three students at University of Hamburg in the
Bachelor/master-course 'interactive visual computing' 2010/2011.
All 3d animations were created using the opensource raytracing-software Pov-Ray
(povray.org) - versions 3.6 and 3.7. The whole modelling was done in pure
povray-code - no extra modelling software was used."
And please, check out my video while you're there; the photons and refractions
are fun to watch ;)
Cheers,
Rob

I would if I could, but hey - you might have posted a link to /your/
work as well... ;-)

Ah, well I did post a link last night, at the end of my "Dielectric experiments"
thread in PBI, along with the source, but here it is again...
I wanted to observe the changes that occur as the IOR changes from 1
(completely transparent) to 80,000 (completely solid/reflective) so I made this
video and posted it on Vimeo:
http://www.vimeo.com/19916827
I didn't realize the default Vimeo aspect ratio would distort my shot so much
until after it uploaded, so my orb looks like an egg (I'm re-rendering at the
Vimeo's default 800x480 to fix it).
The refraction and photons are fun to watch, the reflection not so much, so I
used a spline to control the IOR and "speed up" most of the reflection frames. I
was especially suprised by the lens-flare-like photon effect that happens on
the table between IOR 3-4; pretty cool. Enjoy!
Cheers,
Rob

I'd be more interested seeing it without the reflection as it masks the
upper range of the IOR.
The students animation needs some more work IMO.

Nice to see the effect of changing ior in this way!
You might try no_reflection for the overlay text, though ;)

No way, the reflection part of the video was a bit boring to me so I thought it
more interesting to see the numbers changing in the orb's reflection. It also
shows that it's not just some cheesy composited text overlay on the video, it's
real raytracing!
