Hey,
I feel somewhat weird about posting this here, because it may seem like I'm
trying to angle for free publicity; but you might like to know that the
four-minute music video I created using content from Speed Demos Archive
that was shown at the Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle today was rendered
entirely using POV-Ray 3.5.
You can download the video here. I've also provided a detailed writeup on
how it went from idea to completed product over an insane six month period
of very hard work indeed.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the developers for providing such
a wonderfully capable, stable and versatile piece of software. Please keep
up the good work.
Cheers, and enjoy.

A great read and a great animation. As someone who uses POVRay I couldn't
help de-constructing it in my head as I watched it, but still the overall
effect was excellent. In the past I've worked on animations were I was
importing images from a movie clip, implemented my own camera motion system
(although I did use splines to guide my camera), and worked on large
projects with a hard deadline, but never all three at the same time! Anyway
I could really appreciate the work that it takes to pull off a project like
that, and you really did do a great job.
Oh and I really liked the little nods you added to the speed demos scene
(like jumping a wall in the maze). Again, great job!

This is really impressive!
I see that you spend a lot of time on it, and it really shows. The camera
work is especially professional, and the general attention to detail and
timing.
Have you made any other work with POV-Ray? Judging by this video, you must
have some experience with the program. Of course, you can get far in six
months of intensive work if you have prior programming experience. :)

Thanks, fellas. Not everyone in the community it was intended to promote
liked it, unfortunately -- I figured people here might have more of a clue
about how difficult it actually was to make.
I've done a few other things with POV-Ray, mainly "fan renders" (?) based
around the Metroid Prime videogames; see
http://www.metroid2002.com/backgrounds/grenola_morphball_render_final_800_600.png
and

.... not really any animations, and nothing on this scale before. I like a
challenge, though. :)
Thanks for the kind words.
