What I really want is the most robust animation  that the www supports.
This seems to be animated gifs.  They run seem to run no matter what
environment I'm in (though they are simple).

So what software is used to encode these?  POVRAY documentation links only
http://www.spinwave.com but they don't seem to support anything after
Win95.
Are there any other gif animation encoders?

Thanks, I downloaded the 30 day trial and it does everything I hoped it
would do.  It takes bmp files, you can put in time delays, and the size is
small.  It has some it has some optimization options that are interesting.
My first try is below.

the AVI version was 1 Meg, I couldn't get the mpeg less than 700 K.  TMPenc
keeps forcing it to a larger size and I don't know how to control it.
