Hi Group.
I have now got my 3 most recent POV animations on line. There is a page, but
the links directly to the files are:
Second Thoughts
http://www.casdn.neu.edu:8080/ramgen/dmiller/second.rm
Residue
http://www.casdn.neu.edu:8080/ramgen/dmiller/residue.rm
and the newest,
past tense--
http://www.casdn.neu.edu:8080/ramgen/dmiller/past_tense.rm
There is a VERY long buffer time upfront, and of course, the colors aren't
very accurate. I find that if I go to
View/Preferences/Performances and DISable Use Video Optimization in my Real
Player, the movement is less jerky. Still some stuttering, however,
sometimes coming to nearly a complete halt on my cable modem.
If anyone has the time (c. 9 minutes each), please have a look. Love to get
any comments, especially on optimization for the Net (I use Real Producer).
100% POV!
Thanks much.
Dennis

Is this so-called modern art?
I like it. I don't understand it, but I like it.
Or perhaps it's a "guess how did I do this" thing?-)

These works, complete with music, are submitted to conferences and fests
around the world (foro-artistico in Hanover just asked about a presentation.
Do you know of them?) and tend to get a good reception, maybe because the
images and music were created at the same time. I call the stuff "fine art"
animation when pressed, but usually I just call it animation with music (let
somebody else judge!) I just wanted people to know one of the many uses of
POVray - everything, except for some very minor transitions between scenes,
is done in POV. Second Thoughts was chosen for SIGGRAPH this year - that's a
pretty high-end graphics conference.
If anything, I'd love to see more people take advantages of POVray and more
POV users look into opportunities for exposure of their work.
Anyway, I teach music and multimedia at a university in Boston, and this
constitutes my "professional activities..."
Best,
D.
