One of the most frequently asked qustions on this particular group
must surely be "does anyone know were I can find a utility that will
convert .avi animation files to .mpg animation files ?"

The answer is finaly yes, Ken knows where to find one.

At long last I have tracked down one such utility and best of all
there are no registraion fees required for it's use.

So what are you all waiting for ? Go and get it !

avi2mpg1 and wav2mp are freeware Windows
'95/NT mpeg encoders. They are not GUI apps,
     =====
rather they run at the command prompt.

Oh, boy, how I hate this!

Do you know if there are compilations of the program which can be used
in other systems also (like DOS)?

I don't have anymore information than what is listed on the download page.
I found this accidently and have been searching for something like it for
months now. I feel I have been lucky to have found this at all.

Sorry Warp.

Does anybody here remember that about a year ago I mentioned this
utility, but the page was offline for about a week exactly on the date
that I reported it, and nobody believed it existed since nobody got the
idea of trying the site again?

It does have a GUI if you look closely on the page it mentions that
there is a gui program attachment. It is in plain view, people.

(Sorry if this sounds a bit disgruntled. I didn't get much sleep last
night.)

I didn't access the internet for the very first time until sometime in march
or april of last year. It then took a couple more months before I found this
news server. This would indicate that your announcement preceeded my arrival
by a sizable time period.

What does this mean to you and me ?

It means I have an excuse and there is nothing like a good excuse to deflect
any guilt that may be slung your way. :)

Guiltyness deflected. Fine.

Have a nice day, Mr. Tyler.
