Thank you for reading me! =)

<P>I'm a 16 year old high-school student residing in the Republic of Panama.
I created a great looking mech (bottom), and I want to create a spectacular
animation: here's my idea:

<P>"We begin within a dark, futuristic military base. We see the majestic
and shiny mechs powering on... appearing in the dark. We turn left... flying
motercycles come out from the depths of the base. We turn right, and closer
to us another squadron of 'cycles. We look forward to the mechs again.
Suddenly, the gigantic doors behind the camera slowly open, allowing light
to shine through. We quickly zoom out... we see that the base is in a valley.
The troops start marching. We get a bird's-eye view of the base and it's
crackling forcefield. It turns off, and the troops march out. Tanks also
emerge. We turn around to see the enemy. And the fight begins. The base
is courageously defended... Victory!"

<P>So, who wants in? I need someone to help with the animation of the mechs,
so as to give them realistic movement. Also, I need good textures for the
base and the valley.

<P>PS Please don't steal my script! |)-)
<BR>PS2 If you IMP people want it for your 30min movie, please write me
at:

I think you should post this in povray.general or povray.binaries.animations
because we are really only here for the Internet Movie Project and the
themes have already been decided for it.

Sorry Lance, please don't feel attacked, but I feel I have to "protect his
rights" a bit :-)

The newsgroup here was opened after our IMP started, but the name
"povray.animations" is general and I think this is how povray.org see it to
(they can correct me if that is false).
We have no right (and shouldn't do it anyway) to push out people from this
group.

Johannes.

Actually, this newsgroup is *not* just for the benefit of IMP members,
but for general povray animation posting. We just happen to be
"talking" in this group more than anyone else. :)

I am attempting to make an animation similar to that in movies like Star
Gate, where there is an upright portal filled with a seemingly mercury like
substance. For the animation part I am trying to use bumps, but not
achieving quite the right effect, but what I am really stuck on is the
mercury texture, I just can't seem to get it right. Any help would be
appreciated.
Tony

You could try something like this:

pigment
 {rgb <.85, .85, .9>}
finish
 {metallic 1
  brightness 8
  reflection .1
  specular 1
  roughness .001
 }

brilliance 8 // brightness is actually for use in radiosity
