Can anyone tell me the best technique to use in Moray to make a pipe that is
curved rougly in the shape of the letter C?

I discovered that a torus with a plane cutting it in half is one way to do
this but I am wondering if there is another way that is more flexible and
lets you "bend" the pipe in more creative ways?

not sure on Moray, but there's an app out there that did this...
but you'd need to go through Ken's links to find it. However,
there are a million ways to skin a cat...

There's a Spline-Plugin (look at the moray-homepage), that will allow you
even more complex pipes ..

failing that, give sPatch a whirl - you can export your creations directly
to moray

The best way to skin this particular cat in Moray, since it is only a pipe in the
shape of a C, is to use a cylindrical bicubic patch object, scale it so that it
is long and thin, and then select each "ring" of the cylinder, and rotate and
translate into place.
