While working with Moray, I felt, I missed something, when working
with bicubic patches ...

I often start with declaring a object of at least 5x5 bicubic patches,
because you can't change the size afterwards ...

would it be possible (while in the patch-editor), to select single
patches of the existing object and force for them a subdivision into
n*m single patches ? This would, of course, lead to that there is no
longer an x*y patchfield, but I can't imagine to be that a problem.
It would give some advances for modelling. You can start with maybe
3*3 patches, modelling a rough structure of your object. If you got
this right, you can add details at the areas where needed, and maybe
subdivide the new area again, to go even finer ...
Of course, there would be the need for a reverse way ...
