Sorry to bother everyone again, but how can you tell what # corresponds
with the palette entry index?  Are there any programs to do that for
you?  Thank

Paint Shop for example. Most other imaging programs that can load GIFs
should be able to do that too.
Simply load the GIF, open the palette, find the color you want to make
transparent and note its index.
