Hi

Lately I have been thinking of creating a texture database on the
internet. That is a page where you can download all sorts of Pov-Ray
textures, all with thumbnails. Now I know lots of these exist and I
wouldn't be creating anything new but if anyone is interested please
post any textures you have created yourself, just the code, or ones you
have seen and I'll copy them. Especially interested in good looking
media effects. Also please note this is only an idea and may not happen
but if I get enough responses it just might happen. Also if anyone else
has a texture database and is willing to let me copy yours please let me
know, I will give you full credit. It could end up being a huge texture
resource:-)

Hi Thomas, you might also consider to contact as many of the existing
sites with texture libs, maybe creating sort of a texture ring for pov?
There are sites with hundreds and hundreds of textures already, what
I would feel to be new, would be the thumbnail thingy as kind of
consorted action. Oops, this would mean to scan the sites for new stuff
regularly etc.

Look in povray.text.scene-files. I'm about to post one of my surplus
texture include files for public use. A couple of good textures mostly
metalics and colored metalics but useful none the less. The source is
straight Pov but is compatible with just about every version from
Pov v2.2 to Pov v3.1e. It's yours if you want it. If I get the time
(ya right) I'll clean up the big one (texture inc file) with some of
my bestest and most specialist textures and post them as well. Some
truely bizzare stuff in that file to be sure.

Thanks, I'll keep it. Though don't expect to see the page any time soon. Don't
worry though if and when I make it I'll give everyone credit.
