Mercy. From the sound of it you are new to pov-ray right? I would suggest first
reading the pov-ray documentation on its language, this is a very helpful doc
and if you read through it from beginning to end you should have most of your
questions answers, avoiding any embarrassing, or angry, newgroup replies.
Anyway what you want is a CSG difference. Create two objects. Place them so
that one object overlaps the other. Now create a CSG object, in the create tab,
and add the two objects to the CGS and change it from a union CSG to a
difference CSG. Now give it a material and render.
