I do not understand what your problem is. Are there no shadows being projected
onto the background BY the objects in teh scene, or are there no shadows being
projected by the objects in the image that is the background.
If it is the first problem, you might want to make sure your background is close
enough, and that the lights are at a correct angle.
If it is the second problem, you might want to consider making the background in
Moray, or a similar program, and then raytracing it along with the foreground
objects.
