Stefan,
You might find this useful. I've found that scenes render much faster when
using povray directly than they do using Moray. Once Moray has written the
.pov file, if you open it in Povray and render it there it goes much faster.

I don't know why. The fire place itself renders in 5 minutes here
(AthlonXP 1700Mhz, 512 MB DDR 333 Ram).

Apart from that, and this tries to be constructive criticism,
IMO the floor is too reflective in your image
(i don't know if it is related with the render time),
and the separations between the planks that make the parkett
are not visible.

Waiting to see the next version.

may be using arealights or point lights?

I agree: it looks like epoxy glossed floor more than wax.

Strange... when I open the scene, it is empty! Only a camera and a light. No
InsertCode present...

Hi Steve Shelby, you recently wrote in moray.binaries:

You're probably using a lot of memory. I would check Task Manager and
see how much memory is being used.
The communication between Moray and POV-Ray incurs a very low overhead
and I would be surprised if you noticed it for any scenes that render
slower than 5 seconds or so....
