Hm... I /think/ I'm sort of obliged to join this challenge... time to
heat up the engine and get the USRA Heavy Santa Fe rolling again.

When TC-RTC was started it was meant as a temporary stand in for the
IRTC. But it has never grabbed the attention of the ray tracing
community. If you can think of anything that would help promote it.
Thomas and I would welcome any suggestions.
And just to make it clear, TC-RTC is not associated with Pov-Ray in any
way other than the administrators are long time users of Pov-Ray. In
fact the rules were changed to allow any renderer to be used as one of
the early members built and uses his own system.
It is not just a matter of changing its name. As always there is more to
the story.
What we need is for lots of people to enter and lots of people to vote
for the entries.
have a forum as well.
Everyone is welcome.

A coherent name with a coherent url.
So far it seems called "tina chep", yet the not obvious url is
www.tc-rtc.co.uk/index/index.html
At least www.tc-rtc.co.uk is giving a good page. And google find it
first on just "tc-rtc"
short acronym is good for URL: irtc was easy to remember, but that
"minus" sign is just a PITA for tc-rtc (where is it ? second, third,
fourth position... too much pain for a brain)
tinachep is a too long acronym (sort of; "che" is a quite large bit),
and "KNX is not X" is a tired meme, just a bit older than "all your base
belong to us"... even "the cake is a lie" is faded, like all the YA...
pattern
And irtc was not about povray. just raytracers.

I am not so sure about location finding for interested people. That
sounds rather trivial to me. One of the criticism I have heard however
was that the topics (based on book titles) were not liked, or some such.
Too much pain for the brain? ;-)

Really? I do not remember any other raytracer used than POV-Ray... But
then, I may not have really paid attention to that as it was POV-Ray in
most cases... or am I wrong?

And there is more I think. When the IRTC restarted, TC-RTC suffered a
bit from people turning back to the old familiar grounds, but it seems
that the real interest in these kind of competitions/challenges has
dwindled as the IRTC too suffered in the end from a lack of uploads,
especially compared to the heydays of the competition. And many of the
strong artists from those days have disappeared over the last five to
ten years. Other interests? Other challenges?
