If asked for commercial usage of anything you create in an
publication, work or reproduction in any form, you demand at
least a fraction of royalties based upon page count. That is the
only way it is done save by those who would rip you off.

If there are no royalties you state simply one time usage on
condition of NO EARNINGS from the usage.

I have has none of my renderings used but I have had dozens of
my web op-eds reprinted. (And I got so rich I started getting my
1/4 pounders with cheese.) And before that 20 or so pubs for the
Atari 800 for real money.

Keep in mind, people who create publications need filler
material. Either between paid ads or textbook creation by staff
writers. They need us more than we need them. If any of us turn
professional we will need the creative amateurs we left for
filler. You can not live on your own creations unless you are one
of the very rare few.

So NEVER give anything away for any reason, regardless of the
flattery.
