So what's the status of the IRTC? I haven't seen anything posted to this
site, and the IRTC site still says "We will provide more details soon."

Well, it's dead in the water for now, for all practical purposes.
(my opinion, of course).
There's a stand-in/replacement being run by members of the irtc.stills
group where "us anim people" can also particpate.
Current topic is "The Black Robe" (title of an 19th century novel,
IIRC), which may be interpreted as one sees fit. The stills round on
that has just finished (June 30th), the anims round goes on for another
two months.

Rather nice, automated site (go to: "public view" or "register" to vote).
Participant turnout is quite low at the moment, but better than a
non-functioning IRTC (gah, did i really write that...?)
Will hopefully get better as the word is spread.
I'm flipflopping between a more action-oriented ("mad wizard") or more
atmosphere-oriented ("loss mourning") interpretation of "black robe" for
now, but do intend to produce a contribution...
