I was wondering...... if anyone knows if there is an export plug-in to POV
from WINGS 3D? If there is where could I find it.....The Link on the WINGS
home page for a plug-in can not be found......

Thanks
  Darin

Try POSERay (http://mysite.verizon.net/sfg0000/)
I recommend using the OBJ format for transferring the data from Wings3D to
POSERay (as POSERay doesn't import Wings files natively). Exporting to
POVRay from POSERay is supported directly.

I did a search on the filename and found it elsewhere on the web...While
it says it might not work with more recent versions of Wings, it seems to
work fine...

I got stuck with this problem a while ago, but I exported the .obj format
and realized it's just a mesh2 in different syntax. Lately I've just been
using a simple little shell script that is horribly inefficient but does
the trick. It would be very simple and much more efficient to write a
little converter in c or something, but if you have access to a unix-like
system it works although it might combine all objects together. It should
handle uv-mapping and normals without a problem. You just have to make
sure it's triangulated when exported.

Yes, I know it couldn't be much worse, but it's worked for me.

DingDang. I looked all over the place most of Sunday morning for Darin,
and couldn't find it. Hand it over Jim, or I'll jinx you with bad pixels.

And don't think that that doesn't work - now I've got a bad pixel on my
camera's CCD. ;-)

I've uploaded the version I have on my laptop here to:

http://hendersj.googlepages.com/wingspov-0.98.28_v1.tgz

It seems, generally, to work for me with Wings 0.98.36 (which is the
version I have installed at the moment).

Heh, sorry about that. I didn't mean it, honest. :)

That's what I've got installed with a few extra plugin's from the
hard-working Ggaliens, (nice - I like the 'bend' feature, although, I'm
still looking for the 'extrude shape' feature, dated around March 2006 I
believe), and looking at those filenames in your .tgz file, I think I came
across them in my search! I didn't know what to do with them at first with
an extension of .beam.

Ah well, thank you Jim, you're a star! :)

Thank You --Jim and Steve,
I have the files, and will start playing around with them.
I am glad no one was jinxed with bad pixels....................

That's OK, it seems to be working properly now for some reason. ;-)

Hmmm, I might need a pointer at those other plugins you've got - the POV
one is the only one I've installed...

     Yep, here you go, http://www.manifoldlab.com/wings_manifoldlab/ - it's
the latest version at the bottom. I think the shape extruder plugin is in a
2006 file, but he's not listing them any more for some reason. There is a
video on the previous page showing what it can do.
