I find myself suddenly inclined to tackle a serious pov project, but it's
too close to the stills deadline and there's not yet any word on the next
anim topic... sigh...

Hopefully it'll be something that inspires me, I keep getting mental blocks
when I see the topic!

Come on, seriously, what's the new topic? We've already wasted 5 days of
good rendering time...

I second that... i'm not expecting a surprise overnight
update to the website ;) - i'd be happy with a simple
newsgroup or mail posting...

I'm guessing this has something to do with it (snipped from the IRTC mailing
list):

Still, it would be nice to know what the next *topic* was. I guess the
consolation is that (as John found out) the system will apparently allow
you to submit your entries after the deadline. :-)

The admins have stated in times past that the server does not slam the
gate down, so to speak, at the deadline. Instead, a human being tells
the server to stop accepting submissions, at the deadline, or sometime
after that. In this case, the human being has not gotten around to it.

I suppose that it would be fair if everyone knew this, so that more
people could jump on the wagon, but life in unfair.

John

Oh my, it's two weeks now. I really don't mind at all if the
processing of the last round is delayed (voting and all),
but it'd be very nice to have at least the topic for the
current one... can't start tinkering without at least some
direction to head to.

I've looked through the topic suggestion system, but there's
no hint there, either.

Maybe a cgi script that could be fed with the upcoming
topics and their "trigger dates" would be helpful? I could
supply some PHP script for that ;)

Not sure if it's really necessary to repeat here (are there
users relying solely on the newsgroups?), but the new anim
topic is "Dance".

The July 2004 topic was "Dancing."

Do I have to do another animation with square-dancing robots?

No fair. You've already got everything and just need to
change a few colors. That's a two-years head start ;)

Just kidding...
