What is the general philosophy on entering two entries to a competition?

I know I have fireballed entries for stills when someone submitted three
copies of the same geometric figurines just rearranged on different
desks.  For the upcoming round, do you think people would object if I
submitted to differently-themed entries, especially if done with
different rendering packages?

Or rather, would anyone besides my wife object?

It will depend a lot on the images. During the water round (the only round
I've voted in), I recall discounting one person's images because both
would have been much better if they'd used more time-consuming algorithms
in generating the images. In other words, if instead of generating two
images, they had generated one image with anti-aliasing (as I recall),
that one image would have been much improved. I thought it was really lame
to submit two images at lower quality than they should have been
submitted, and voted accordingly.

So in my case, it appears that I will judge you more harshly if I think
you or your computer should have spent more time on one image when you
wasted that time by generating multiple images. (But I'm not voting in the
animation round, so you may be in luck.)
